
Eagles fall 6-1 to Des Moines

Brandon Longley, Chad Costello and David Watters each scored a goal and added two assists as Des Moines scored six unanswered goals between the first two periods en route to a 5-2 win over the Heartland Eagles before a crowd of 1,052 at the Summit Center on Friday night.
The Eagles trailed 2-0 in the 1st period on goals by Longley and Mike Neilon before erupting for four goals to start the second by TJ Dahl, Costello, Watters and Adam Miller.
Steve Eastman scored the Eagles lone goal on assists by Jon Erickson and Tom Fortney at the 18:45 mark of the 2nd period. Mike Zacharias stopped 47 of 53 shots faced as the Eagles fell to 14-32-6 on the season. Des Moines improved to 25-22-4 with the win, as Dwight LaBrosse saved 25 shots.
The Eagles received goals from Fortney, Colin Vock and Corey Elkins in the shootout for the win, as the Eagles outscored the Stampede 3-1. Belleville, Illinois native Charlie Effinger stopped 21 of 24 shots for the win.
The Heartland Eagles return to the ice on Saturday night as they travel to Waterloo to face the Blackhawks from Young Arena at 7:00pm.
