Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Thursday that they have re-signed veteran Jason Beatty for the 2013-14 season. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound defenseman will be returning for his seventh consecutive season with the Eagles. Beatty posted a career-high 17 points last season, to go along with 124 penalty minutes, a team-high for Colorado.

"Jason has not only been an exemplary player for our hockey club for six years, he has also been an invaluable part of this community," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "The mutual loyalty and integrity shown between Jason and the Eagles has allowed us to return a player who is as reliable as they come on the ice, while also being one of the most physically dominant players in the league."

The Sturgis, Saskatchewan native is sixth in Eagles history with 585 penalty minutes during his tenure in Colorado. In that same time, the 30 year-old has also amassed 70 points, including 18 goals.

"Having the opportunity to return for a seventh season is something that very few players ever receive, especially with an organization like the Colorado Eagles," said Beatty. "This is a very special place and I'm looking forward to having a great year and giving back everything I have to the Eagles and to these incredible fans."

Beatty is the first veteran to be signed by the Eagles for the 2013-14 campaign. He joins fellow defensemen Isaac Smeltzer, Arthur Bidwill, Paul Phillips and John Ryder as now officially under contract with Colorado for the upcoming season. Additionally, the Eagles have also inked forwards Teegan Moore, Kyle Ostrow, Dylan Hood, Greger Hanson, Parker Stanfield, Greg Gardner, Todd Hosmer and A.J. Hau, as well as goaltender Adam Brown.

Individual tickets for all Eagles home games will go on sale in September.
