Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Tuesday that they have completed a trade with the San Francisco Bulls, sending defenseman Collin Bowman to the Bulls in exchange for defenseman Russ Sinkewich. In addition, Bowman has also signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks organization.
"This was a deal that originated with Collin's progression to a point where he is now on the verge of beginning his AHL/NHL career," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "We are very happy for Collin, while at the same time we are extremely excited to welcome in an outstanding, experienced defenseman who would provide an immediate impact for our hockey club."
Sinkewich, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound defenseman has posted 39 points in 185 ECHL contests, the majority of which came with the Alaska Aces. The West Lake, Ohio native captured a Kelly Cup Championship with the Aces in 2011, a season which saw Sinkewich finish the regular season at a plus-18, while boasting a plus-9 rating in the post-season.
In addition, the 27 year-old has also seen time in 62 AHL games, most recently with the Portland Pirates in the 2012-13 season, with 4 of his 6 AHL points coming with the Pirates.
"This is an opportunity for me to play for an outstanding organization," said Sinkewich. "Having played against the Eagles and knowing several players who have played for them in the past, I know they are first-class. I'm excited to be a part of it and to play for a championship."
Bowman made his professional debut with the Eagles last season, collecting 34 points in 69 contests and finishing the regular season at a minus-5.
