
Solar Bears to Hold Tryouts on September 12

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, will hold Free Agent Tryouts on Thursday, September 12, at the RDV Sportsplex Ice Den.
Two players from last year's tryouts were invited to Training Camp. Ed Levens and Matt Panzo each earned an invitation to Training Camp with Levens eventually earning a spot on the roster. Levens went on to play in 36 games for Orlando, scoring one goal and adding three assists along with 51 PIM.
"We are looking to give players an opportunity to showcase their skills and talent to the Orlando Solar Bears Organization," said Solar Bears Head Coach Vince Williams.
All players must be 18 years of age or older and players attending camp must not be under contract with any team at the 'AA' level or higher for the upcoming 2013-14 Season and must not have played in over thirty-six (36) professional games at the 'AA' level or higher, which includes but is not limited to the NHL, AHL, ECHL, or Central Hockey League. Spots at the tryout will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis and all participants must pay in full to reserve a spot. Please note that only eight (8) goalie spots will be available to prospective players.
Participating players are required to bring full equipment, including a half-visor/shield for skaters, mask for goaltenders, and mouth guards. The cost of the tryout is $275 per player and includes two practices, one scrimmage, lunch, and each player will keep their tryout camp jersey. Transportation, accommodations, and meals will be the responsibility of the attending player and will not be provided by the Solar Bears.
Tryouts will be held on Thursday, September 12, at the RDV Sportsplex Ice Den at 8701 Maitland Summit Blvd, Orlando, FL 32810. The first on-ice session will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. Participants must preregister by Thursday, September 5. To register, download and fill out the Tryout Application and Waiver and Release Form completely and fax to (321) 972-1924 or email to kmuchacho@orlandosolarbearshockey.com. After sending in registration information, please contact Kelsey Muchacho in the Solar Bears Executive Offices to provide payment information by calling (407) 951-8200.
A Free Agent Tryout spot will not be guaranteed until payment is made and you receive a confirmation letter.
The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, play all of their home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center.
