Dynamo Face Chicago Fire Tomorrow in Key Conference Road Test

HOUSTON, TX (Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012) - The Houston Dynamo will try to solidify their standing in the Eastern Conference at 6 p.m. CT tomorrow, as they face a crucial road test against the Chicago Fire.

Sunday's match will begin at 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on Galavision. The game can be heard on SportsTalk 790 AM and La Ranchera 850 AM (Spanish).

Houston is 11-6-9 (42 points) after 26 games and in third place in the Eastern Conference, five points behind conference leader Sporting Kansas City. Chicago is 12-8-5 (41 points) through 25 games and tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, one point behind the Dynamo

The Dynamo continued CONCACAF Champions League group play on Thursday with a 1-1 road draw with Olimpia in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Adam Moffat headed in a superb cross from Nate Sturgis for Houston's tying goal. The Dynamo survived a red card to Sturgis to earn a point on the road and remain tied for first place with Olimpia in Group 3.

The Fire ended a three-game winning streak on Aug. 22 with a 4-2 loss at D.C. United. Marco Pappa, the Fire's leading scorer with six goals, was transferred to Dutch club SC Heerenveen on Thursday. Chicago is led by Dominic Oduro and Chris Rolfe, with five goals each.

Houston is 6-3-4 in regular season games against the Fire. The last four encounters between the clubs have ended in low-scoring draws, with neither team scoring more than one goal in all four game. The teams drew in both meetings this year, 1-1 in Chicago on April 15 and 0-0 in Houston on July 3. The Dynamo have had success at Toyota Park, with a 3-1-3 record in seven visits.

Sunday's game continues a stretch of six games in 19 days for the Dynamo, which concludes at home Thursday against Real Salt Lake.

Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall has ten shutouts on the season. With one more shutout, Hall will tie Pat Onstad, who set a franchise record with 11 shutouts in 2007.

Midfielder Brad Davis scored his sixth goal of the season on Aug. 19 and will set a new career-high with his next regular season goal.

Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear will tie Steve Nicol for fourth place on the all-time Major League Soccer wins chart with his next regular season victory. Kinnear has 111 wins in nine seasons as head coach between Houston and San Jose.
