Port Huron Flags News Release

(PORT HURON, MICH.) - The Port Huron Flags starting goaltender, Dustin Traylen, earned weekly league honors for his efforts in front of the net, as announced by the United Hockey League on Monday.

Traylen guarded the red pipes in all three of the Flags' contests this past weekend, recording 179:20 minutes of playing time. He finished the week with a save percentage of .944, making 84 saves on 89 shots. On Saturday night, against the Fort Wayne Komets, he played a perfect game, earning his fourth shut-out of the season and first star honors on the road.

Still a rookie by league standards, this is Traylen's first award of this kind in his professional career. "It feels great to earn this honor, but it really belongs to the whole team," said Traylen. "The guys all played great and the defense was outstanding. They made my job very easy, so I share it with all of them."

Currently fifth in the league in goalie leaders, Traylen missed a month in January due to a leg injury. Since returning to the ice in February, he has been invaluable to the team, doubling his shut-out count and making big stops in shoot-out sessions to keep the Flags in playoff contention. In the past five games, he is 4-1-0, with the one loss coming on Friday against the red-hot Rockford IceHogs, where his 29 saves gave him the third star of the game ranking.

This is the first goalie award to be given to the Flags this season.
