Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays stormed back against the Tampa Yankees with eight eighth-inning runs to defeat the Yankees 10-6, completing Sunday's suspended game.
Prior to the rain suspending the ballgame on Sunday, Mike Ford highlighted the Tampa Yankees three-run inning in the third with a two-run homer.
The Dunedin Blue Jays and Tampa Yankees picked up their suspended game on Monday night in the top of the fifth inning with one out and Miguel Andujar on first base.
Dunedin pitching did not allow a run from the third through the eighth innings allowing the D-Jays to climb within one run in the seventh, 3-2. Ian Parmley walked and scored for Dunedin's first run on a groundout by Mike Reeves. Aaron Attaway tallied the second run of the inning, scoring on a force out fly to center.
Tampa plated three insurance runs in the eighth to snag a 6-2 lead, but Dunedin answered back in the home half in a big way. Matt Dean singled to left and later scored on a Derrick Loveless base knock following a double by Andy Fermin. A wild pitch and walk forced in a couple of runs setting the stage for L.B. Dantzler's turn to do some damage with the bases loaded.
Dantzler promptly doubled to right-center field clearing the bases and giving the D-Jays their first lead of the game, 8-6. Dantzler and Dean would both score before the inning came to a conclusion as Dunedin sent 12 batters to the plate.
Brady Dragmire earned the win tossing 1.2 scoreless innings for Dunedin and Manolo Reyes suffered the loss for Tampa.
