Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
Dunedin, FL. - On Tuesday, May 20th at Knology Park, the Blue Jays will be recognizing the Dunedin High School Falcons baseball team for capturing the 2008 Class 5A State Championship Title. To honor this outstanding accomplishment, presentations will be made to the team and coaching staff by the City of Dunedin, the Dunedin Blue Jays, and the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce prior to the Blue Jays game against the St. Lucie Mets. Gates will open at 6:00pm with ceremonies starting at approximately 6:30pm.
For the first time in 44 years, the Dunedin High School Falcons baseball team can call themselves State Champions after Thursday night's epic 3-2 10 inning victory over Stuart South Fork at Sarasota's Ed Smith Stadium. In the bottom of the seventh, the Falcons escaped from a bases loaded, no-out jam that would have spelled defeat. In the tenth, Dunedin senior, Max Kreuter singled for the eventual game winning RBI that plated left fielder Max Priest. The thrilling conclusion brought the Falcons the State Championship Title.
