Walla Walla Sweets News Release
Walla Walla, WASH- The Walla Walla Sweets (25-22) took down the Cowlitz Black Bears (21-26) 3-0 on Saturday night. The win gave the Sweets the series win, two games to none.
Hayden Duer (Cal State Monterey Bay) crushed a two-run home run in the fourth inning to start off the scoring. It was his third of the year and his second in the last three games.
Willie MacIver (Washington) knocked in Jarren Duran (Long Beach State) on an RBI ground-out in the sixth to make the score 3-0.
That was more than the Sweets' pitching staff needed. Ryan Anderson (Nevada) picked up his third win on the season by throwing six scoreless innings, only giving up two hits and striking out six. Billy Dimlow (Emory) replaced him and threw two shutout innings and Kyle Narahara (Cal State Monterey Bay) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up his 10th save of the season.
The Sweets will go for the series sweep tomorrow at 5:05 P.M. on the last Sunday with a home game this season. Nick Scheidler (UCLA) will take the ball for game three for the Sweets.
