
Ducks Outlast Patriots to Sweep Three-Game Series

Bridgewater, NJ- The Long Island Ducks (19-9, 49-42) defeated the Somerset Patriots (19-11, 54-39) 4-3 in 11 innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.
The Ducks broke the 3-3 tie in the top of the 11th inning on a solo home run by Anthony Vega (2) for the 4-3 final.
Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Patriots tied up the game on a wild pitch that allowed Scott Kelly to score.
Long Island had taken an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Lew Ford.
Jayce Boyd tied up the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI single.
The Ducks reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth inning on another sacrifice by Ford and an RBI single by Taylor Ard that made the score 3-1.
Somerset made it a one run game in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Matt Oberste RBI single.
Dennis O'Grady (5-2) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Dustin Antolin (1-4) suffered the loss, allowing a run on a hit in an inning pitched. Ashur Tolliver earned his first save of the season with a scoreless inning pitched.
The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, August 17th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the York Revolution.
