
Ducks fall to Wolves in season opener

ROSEMONT, IL - Kurtis Foster scored two goals and Andreas Karlsson finished with four assists to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 7-4 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the season-opener for both teams Saturday at Allstate Arena.
Mike Weaver, Steve Maltais, Joe DiPenta, Mark Hartigan and Ben Simon also scored in the win for the Wolves, who eliminated the Ducks in the opening round of the playoffs last season en route to winning their first Calder Cup. Rob Brown chipped in with a pair of assists.
Tony Martensson, Jonathan Hedstrom, Travis Brigley and Peter Podhradsky scored for Cincinnati, which squandered a 3-1 second period lead and fell to 3-3-0-0 all-time on opening-night, including 1-2-0-0 on the road.
Frederic Cassivi got the call in net for the Wolves and responded by turning away 31-of-35 shots. Ilja Bryzgalov, who recorded 20 victories last season for Cincinnati, made 27 saves in the loss.
