Duarte Placed on DL; Poveda Reinstated to Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, announced today that OF Jose Duarte has been placed on the 7-day DL. In a corresponding move, P Omar Poveda has been reinstated from the suspended list.

Duarte, heads to the 7-day DL with a left knee contusion after playing in 21 games for the Suns in 2012. Duarte hit .125 with one homerun and 4 runs batted in.

Poveda, who compiled a 2-1 record and 4.34 ERA before being suspended, is expected to make a start in the series finale against the Barons in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

The Suns roster now stands at 25, which is the maximum allowed in the Southern League.
