Flores Added To Smokies Roster Wednesday

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announced this afternoon that C Luis Flores has been added to the Smokies active roster in advance of the team's 11:30 a.m. game at Smokies Park. In a corresponding roster move, RHP Scott Weismann has been sent to the High-A Daytona Cubs. Both moves are immediate, with Flores being available for this morning's game against the Montgomery Biscuits.

The Smokies active roster is set at 25 players, which is the Southern League maximum.

Flores, 25, will see his first action of 2012. He spent 40 games with the Smokies in 2011, where he hit .275 (28-for-102) with seven home runs and 20 RBIs. The Del Rio, Texas native was selected by the Cubs in the seventh round of the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Weismann, 22, had no record with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/ 4.2 IP). Born in Stoneham, Mass., the right-hander was selected by the Cubs in the 46th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
