Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, Mich. - DTE Energy, Huntington Bank and The Muskegon Lumberjacks are inviting the Muskegon community to help them keep local children in need warm this winter. The annual "Coats for Kids" drive kicks off on December 4, 2009 and will conclude on December 26, 2009.
"The Muskegon community has been incredibly supportive of this effort because people know how important these coats are to the children who receive them," said Roger Royer, DTE Energy's regional relations manager. "We're really counting on everyone's generosity again this year, because the need is growing. In today's tough economy, there are more families than ever in our community struggling to get by."
Those who donate a new or gently used coat will receive a "buy-one, get-one free" voucher to attend the Friday, January 8, 2010 Lumberjacks home game against the Flint Generals.
"This is what our organization is all about, giving back to the community that has supported professional hockey for 50 consecutive years," stated Lumberjacks General Manager Tim Taylor. "We fully understand that times are tough, but we can get through these difficult times by bonding together as a community and helping each other."
Coats can be dropped off at the Muskegon Lumberjacks administrative office inside the L.C. Walker Arena, located at 470 W. Western Avenue in Downtown Muskegon, or at these Huntington Bank locations:
3580 Henry Street
221 W. Webster Avenue
1775 E. Apple Avenue
622 Dykstra Road
"Huntington Bank is proud to be involved in such a worthy effort," said Tracy Bailey, Huntington Bank's District Manager for Muskegon. "Huntington Bank has been, and will continue to be, focused on community events such as this."
Donated coats will be distributed to those in need throughout the Muskegon area.
