Port Huron Icehawks News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks are embarking on a six game road trip this week, their longest stretch away from home this season. Before leaving, however, they gave fans at McMorran Arena something to remember them by, winning a pair of home games against Quad City and Dayton last Friday and Saturday.

The Icehawks have won their last two games and are 4-1-0-0 in their last five outings. After falling to the Lumberjacks in Muskegon on Wednesday, they came home to defeat the Mallards 3-1 on Friday and the Gems 4-1 on Saturday and improve their home record to 7-2-0-0. The solid week moved the Icehawks into sole possession of second place in the IHL, three points behind the first place Lumberjacks with one game in hand.

Prior to this week, the Icehawks have played nine games on home ice and just five away contests. They will now have a chance to prove their prowess on the road, as they face six away games in the next two weeks and will not return to McMorran Arena until December 11. Overall the Icehawks are 3-2-0-0 on the road.

The Icehawks kick off this week's holiday road trip with a game in Quad City on Wednesday. After a day off for Thanksgiving, they head to Bloomington on Friday and Fort Wayne on Saturday. All three games will be the Icehawks first trip to each of those cities this season.

Port Huron is 1-0-0-0 versus both Quad City and Fort Wayne this season and 1-1-0-0 in the season series with Bloomington.

Russo Named Goalie of the Week: Icehawks goalie Adam Russo was named IHL Goalie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 22, the league announced on Monday. He only allowed two goals against in the two games played, giving him a 1.00 goals against average for the week. Russo had a.958 save percentage, making a total of 46 saves on 48 shots.

The 26-year-old Montreal, Quebec native has the league's best record and leads the league in save percentage (.920) and is ranked second in goals against average (2.23).

Setting the Pace: With three more goals this week, Mike Kinnie is alone in first place in the IHL in goals with 13 for the season. He has had at least a share of the goals scored lead since opening night. His five power play goals and 69 shots are also the best league-wide.

Spreading the Wealth: With four points apiece this week, Derek Patrosso, Mickael Bedard and Daniel Tetrault reached double digits for the season. Eight Icehawks have at least ten points just 14 games into the season.

Rookie Leader: Rookie forward Mickael Bedard had an assist in all three games the Icehawks played last week, improving his point streak to six games. His ten points (3g, 7a) make him the leading scorer among rookies. Eight of his ten points have come during his point streak.

Stingy on the Kill: Although they allowed three power play goals this week, the Icehawks are still the best penalty-killing team in the IHL this season, with opposing power play units coming up short on over 87% of chances. Port Huron is currently the only IHL team to allow single-digit power play goals this year, as they have let in just eight goals in 62 chances.
