MOLINE, Ill. (November 24, 2009) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that Mallards players will join the Salvation Army's 2009 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign by acting as bell ringers this Friday and turning the biggest retail shopping day of the year into "Quack Friday" at NorthPark Mall in Davenport and SouthPark Mall in Moline.
Mallards players will ring bells to solicit donations for the annual Kettle Drive in the NorthPark Mall Food Court from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. this Friday and at J.C. Penney at the SouthPark Mall from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Major David Luft, the Salvation Army's Quad Cities Coordinator, states, "This holiday season we are seeing great need, but also great generosity, like we've never seen before. Having the Mallards as part of the bell ringing team on Friday is just another example of this community's spirit of giving."
