Lexington, KY - A solo homer by Cal Jones in the bottom of the ninth completed the Lexington Legends comeback and gave them a 4-3, walkoff win over the Greenville Drive in Tuesday's series finale.
With one out in the frame, Jones lifted an Angel Padron (1-3) offering over the wall in left field to give the Legends (18-17) a win in the game and in the four-game series over the Drive (10-28).
The loss spoiled yet another strong effort from Drive starter Kutter Crawford, as the right-hander struck out eight over five innings while giving up just one run on five hits without issuing a walk.
The Drive scored single runs in each of the first three innings to take the lead. A triple by Lorenzo Cedrola leading off the game was followed by Cole Brannen's RBI groundout to put the Drive ahead.
Frankie Rios delivered an RBI single in the second to add another run. M.J. Melendez answered in the bottom half by belting a solo homer for the Legends, which marked the only run scored against Crawford.
Marino Campana smacked a home run of his own in the top of the third, and the opposite field blast to right-center was his team-leading fifth of the season.
The Legends began their comeback in the seventh, as Ricky Aracena lifted a solo homer to left to trim the Drive's lead to one, and an RBI double by Dennicher Carrasco tied things up in the eighth.
Campana, Ricardo Cubillan and Everlouis Lozada picked up two hits apiece for Greenville on Tuesday.
The Drive will return to Fluor Field on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 to begin a series with the Augusta GreenJackets, an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Right-hander Denyi Reyes (3-2, 2.72) will take the mound for the Drive in the opener.
Following the afternoon game, Fluor Field will play host to the BMW Charity Pro-Am Celebrity Softball Game at approximately 7:30 PM.
