Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - A three-run top of the seventh inning propelled the Augusta GreenJackets to a 5-2 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Fluor Field in front of 6,825 fans for Drive Business Downtown.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, the Drive (3-15) scored a pair of runs to tie the game. They loaded the bases with nobody out after a walk and back-to-back singles by Marino Campana and Kervin Suarez. Ramfis Berroa followed with a sacrifice fly to cut the Augusta lead to one, and Charlie Madden's RBI single brought Campana home.

After a one-out single by Heliot Ramos in the seventh, a pair of Drive errors extended the inning, and the GreenJackets (11-6) capitalized. Jean Angomas delivered an RBI infield single off Marcos Lantigua (0-2) to put Augusta ahead, and a two-run double by Jacob Gonzalez tacked on some additional help.

A Drive error, one of four on the afternoon, put the leadoff man on for Augusta in the third, and a Manuel Geraldo RBI single gave the GreenJackets a 1-0 lead. The lead was pushed to 2-0 in the fifth on an RBI double by Angomas.

C.J. Gettman (2-0) got the win with two scoreless innings of relief, and Franklin Van Gurp followed with two scoreless frames of his own to notch his second save.

Madden went 2-2 and reached base in all three plate appearances, while Suarez added a pair of hits. Angomas went 3-5 with two RBI to lead the Augusta offense.

The teams will play a doubleheader at Fluor Field on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch for game one is at 4:00 PM, and game two is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start. The Drive will start right-hander Hunter Haworth (0-2, 11.08) in game one, while right-hander Denyi Reyes (2-0, 3.06) starts in the nightcap. Augusta will start left-hander John Gavin (1-0, 0.61) in game one and right-hander Jose Marte (1-0, 3.86) in the second game.
