Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive came out victorious against the Hudson Valley Renegades earlier today winning 9-4.
Greenville got the bats rolling quickly when Niko Kavadas smacked one out in the first inning and brought Tyler McDonough home with him.
The success continued for the drive into the second inning when they put three runs on the board. The scoring began with an Alex Erro RBI. Philip Sikes was next to cross the dish thanks to Nick Decker reaching on a fielding error. The final run of the inning came from Matthew Lugo's sacrifice fly that brought Alex Erro home.
The Renegades finally responded in the second with a Spencer Henson homerun, but the Drive didn't let up and added three to their lead in the fourth. In Drive fashion, Nicholas Northcut hit a two-run homer followed by a Gilberto Jimenez single. Jimenez found home off the bat of Jaxx Groshans.
Hudson Valley tried to chip away at Greenville's lead in the fifth inning. Tyler Hardman hit one out and brought Ben Rortvedt home with him.
The home team claimed one more RBI in the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough.
The Drive's newcomer Philip Sikes homered one to left field in the ninth to seal the deal.
The Drive looks to take the lead in the series tomorrow with first pitch at 7:05.
