Brooklyn Cyclones News Release
CONEY ISLAND, NY - Stanley Consuegra had a monster offensive game and Garrison Bryant spun six scoreless, leading the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, to a powerful 9-0 shutout victory over Greensboro Wednesday afternoon in the second game of a six-game series.
Win: Bryant (5-1) | Loss: Garcia (3-2) | SV: Acosta (2)
Cyclones HR: Consuegra (1)
Stanley Consuegra went 4-for-5, tallying three doubles for the first-time in his career, with a three-run home run. His run-scoring double in the third inning made it 1-0. Later in the contest, with the Cyclones ahead 3-0, Consuegra yanked a double down the left-field line to plate Matt Rudick and extend the lead to 4-0 in the sixth inning. As part of Brooklyn's five-run eighth inning, Consuegra demolished a three-run home run off of the video board in left field.
For the fourth time in his past five starts, Garrison Bryant collected a quality start with six scoreless innings against the Grasshoppers. After erasing a first-and-third jam in the first inning, the 23-year-old righty settled down, facing two over the minimum over the outing.
Greensboro starter Nick Garcia suffered the tough-luck loss, striking out a career-high nine batters over five innings of two-run ball with five hits and no walks allowed. Garcia issued runs in the third and the fifth.
