Drillers on other end of shut out

Tulsa Drillers News Release

One night after blanking the San Antonio Missions, the Tulsa Drillers were on the other end of a strong pitching performance Monday night. Robert Rohrbaugh allowed only three hits in seven innings, and Stephen Kahn worked two relief innings as the Missions blanked the Drillers 10-0.

It was the first shutout for Tulsa at Drillers Stadium since August 17, 2005 when Corpus Christi beat the Drillers 8-0 behind current Houston Astros hurler Jason Hirsch.

Like Tulsa's Marc Kaiser the previous night, Rohrbaugh was outstanding on Monday. He allowed only the three singles while walking one hitter and striking out six. Kahn allowed one hit and two walks with five strikeouts in his two innings.

The Missions got the only run they needed when Jason Bourgeois led off the game against Steven Register with his fourth home run of the season. They increased the lead to 3-0 in the third inning on a two-run triple by Yung Chi Chen.

A four-run fifth inning put the game away for San Antonio. Erick Monzon walked and Luis Oliveros was hit by a pitch to begin the fifth. After a sacrifice bunt, Scott Youngbauer plated both runners with a triple into right field. A sacrifice fly by Chen scored Youngbauer. Tulsa native Mike Wilson then put the Missions in front 7-0 by hitting his 11th Double A home run of the year.

San Antonio completed the scoring with three runs off Zack Parker in the ninth inning.

The win improved Rohrbaugh's record to 4-5, while Register was tagged with the loss to fall to 4-9.

The Drillers will continue their homestand Tuesday night when they begin a 4-game series against Springfield. Jon Asahina (0-2, 5.23 ERA) will pitch the opener for Tulsa against Eric Haberer (3-1, 4.21 ERA) of the Cardinals. Game time on Tuesday will be 7:05PM.
