July 11, 2008 - The Tulsa Drillers will host the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) in a five-game, four-day series at Drillers Stadium July 14-17. The important series will begin with a doubleheader on Monday, July 14.
The doubleheader will consist of a pair of seven-inning games with the opener starting at 6:05PM. The games on the remaining three nights will all begin at 7:05PM.
The schedule of promotions for the homestand will include Ladies Night for the opener on Monday. Other events will include Reasor's Free Ticket Night on Tuesday, July 15, and All-Star Trivia Night on Wednesday, July 16. The homestand will conclude with Oktoberfest Night and Thirsty Thursday on Thursday, July 17. A complete list of all promotions in the homestand is below.
The big five-game series will be especially important for the Drillers because it will be the Cardinals final visit to Tulsa during the regular season. The Drillers have struggled against the Redbirds this season, compiling only a 7-12 record in their previous meetings. Tulsa has won only 2 of the 11 meetings at Drillers Stadium this year.
Both teams are hoping for a second-half North Division title that would give them a spot in the Texas League playoffs and a first-round berth against the Arkansas Travelers, the first-half champion.
Tulsa will look to continue its second-half momentum. The Drillers are 7-2 at home during the second half of the season after posting only a 14-22 mark at home during the first half.
