Drillers Face Unbeaten Utah

January 18, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Calgary Drillers News Release

The Calgary Drillers of the ABA will practice this afternoon from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. on their home court at the Corral.

On Tuesday night the Drillers (4-6) will face the unbeaten Utah Snowbears (18-0) at 7:00 p.m. at the Corral. In their only previous contest, in Salt Lake City in late December, the Drillers led by one with a minute left but couldn't end the Bears unbeaten streak which now stands at eighteen games.

The shoot around schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Corral is:

Utah Snowbears 10 a.m.

Calgary Drillers 11 a.m.

The Drillers have now won 3 straight games, scoring just under 400 points in the process.

Hometown product Emmanuel Chiek continues to impress in the Drillers lineup. The former University of Saskatchewan and SAIT star had 9 points in 15 minutes of court time on Saturday against Portland. Drillers guard DeJuan Wheat, formerly of the Vancouver Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves, is again attracting interest from NBA teams.

The Drillers wind up their January homestand with games Sunday (2 p.m.) and Monday (7 p.m.) against the Washington Blackhawks before heading on the road for seven straight games.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
