Calgary Drillers News Release
Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) March 6, 2005-The Calgary Drillers basketball club will now move to a form of community ownership and operate under a Alberta not for profit corporation .The Drillers corporation will be run by a volunteer board of directors similar to how several western Canadian Football League franchises are operated and are now accepting expressions of interest from individuals willing to serve in that capacity. This form of ownership is designed to ensure the long term viability of professional basketball in the city of Calgary...
Yearly memberships shares in the not for profit corporation are now available for sale to both individuals and companies. Membership in the company allows for voting privileges and eligibility to serve on the board of directors. An interim board of directors will serve the corporation till the first scheduled annual meeting.
The Calgary Drillers played the 2004/2005 season in the American Basketball Association under a private out of country ownership who suspended play after playing 15 games.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
