Dream to Face New York Liberty in 2010 Eastern Conference Finals

ATLANTA, September 1, 2010 - The Atlanta Dream will face the New York Liberty in the 2010 WNBA Eastern Conference Finals. The series begins on Sunday, September 5 in New York with tip-off set for 7 pm ET at Madison Square Garden.

Atlanta is the No. 4 seed and New York is the No. 2 seed. The Dream will host Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday, September 7 at 7:30 pm ET at Philips Arena. If necessary, the Liberty will host Game 3 on Thursday, September 9 at 7:30 pm ET. All three games will be nationally televised on NBA TV and Game 2 will be televised locally by FOX Sports South.

The Dream secured its spot in the Eastern Conference Finals by sweeping the No. 1 seed Washington Mystics 2-0 in a best of three series. Forward Angel McCoughtry averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in the series, and teammate Iziane Castro Marques averaged 20 points per game. The Dream took Game 1 in Washington, 95-90, before closing out the series at home with a 101-77 win.

The New York Liberty advanced Wednesday night with a 77-74 win over the defending Eastern Conference champion Indiana Fever. New York won the series in three games, taking Game 1 and Game 3 at home.

The two teams split the regular season series, with each team winning two games. The Dream makes its second playoff appearance in three seasons under Head Coach Marynell Meadors. Atlanta finished the regular season with a record of 19-15. New York wrapped up the regular season with a 22-12 record, winning 11 of their last 12 games.
