Atlanta Dream News Release

Atlanta, May 15, 2009- The Atlanta Dream announced today the signing of former University of Georgia standout and eight-year WNBA veteran Coco Miller. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Coco is the type of player who helps you win games," said Dream General Manager & Head Coach Marynell Meadors, who coached Miller with the Washington Mystics. "She's an extremely hard worker and is very professional in her approach to the game. Her versatility-- being able to play and defend multiple positions-- is really going to help us."

Miller, a 5-9 guard, spent her first eight seasons in the league with the Washington Mystics where she averaged 6.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. She appeared in all 34 games for the Mystics last season, including six starts, and averaged 5.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. In 2002, Miller was named the WNBA's Most Improved Player.

A standout at UGA, Miller was originally selected by the Mystics with the ninth overall pick in the 2001 WNBA Draft. During her collegiate career, Miller was a four-time All-SEC selection and finished her career as one of the top ten leaders in assists and steals at Georgia. In four years under Coach Andy Landers, Miller averaged 16.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

"I'm glad we finally have a UGA player and what a great one we got," said Meadors. "She still has a lot of friends in Athens so she is really looking forward to getting back to Georgia and into an Atlanta Dream uniform."

The Dream will tip off its second season on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 7 p.m. against the Indiana Fever.
