
Dragons Walk-Off with 3-2 Win

Lake County Captains News Release
(Dayton, OH)- Tanner Rahier doubled to center field and scored the game winning run as the Dragons beat the Captains on Sunday afternoon. Rahier was on second base with nobody out and a passed ball moved him to third base. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Gabriel Rosa scored him and the Dragons won 3-2. Dayton scored three runs two on sacrifice fly balls and one on an error. The Captains will go for the series win on Monday.
Lake County took the early lead. With one out in the top of the second inning, Paul Hendrix reached on two-base error and then was advanced to third base. With two outs, and Dorssys Paulino on first, the Captains successfully completed a double steal. Paulino stole second and Hendrix scored on his swipe of home after the throw went to second base and the score was 1-0 Lake County.
The Dragons tied the game in the bottom of the third inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Jon Matthews hit a comebacker to the mound. Caleb Hamrick, the Captains pitcher, threw home for one out and the throw to first hit Matthews in the back and trickled into right field. One run scored and the game was evened at 1-1.
Dayton took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Gabriel Rosa was hit-by-a pitch and the stole second and third base. Joe Hudson lifted a sac fly to right field and the score was 2-1 Dragons. The Captains tied the game in the ninth inning. With one out, Eric Haase singled and scored on a double from Nellie Rodriguez and the game was evened at 2-2.
RHP Caleb Hamrick (2-3) started the game for Lake County and pitched three innings. Hamrick allowed three hits, and one unearned run. Hamrick walked one and struck out one. Hamrick did not return after the rain delay. Anderson Polanco took over for the Captains and pitched three innings of shutout baseball. Polanco allowed two hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Jimmy Stokes pitched one inning and allowed one hit, one earned run and Trevor Frank pitched one and one third innings. Frank (3-3) took the loss after allowing one hit and the walk-off sac fly.
LHP Amir Garrett (2-4) started for the Dragons and did not get the decision. Garrett pitched three innings and did not allow a hit. He allowed one unearned run and struck out four. Garrett did not return after the rain delay. Zack Weiss took over for Dayton after the rain delay and pitched three innings of scoreless baseball. Weiss struck out three. Joel Bender (4-0) earned the win after pitching three innings and allowing four hits, one earned run, one walk and four strikeouts.
The Captains will remain in Dayton, Ohio to take on the Dragons in the finale of a four game series. On Monday, the Captains will send RHP Dace Kime (3-9, 5.09) to the mound and Dayton will counter with RHP Sal Romano (4-7, 3.96). First Pitch is at 7:00 PM from Fifth Third Field.
