
Dragons Take Game One From The Bees

Dayton, OH (May 2, 2008) - The Burlington Bees opened a six-game road trip Friday night at Dayton and lost the series opener to the Dragons 3-1. The Bees only registered five hits while the Dragons came up with nine en route to their two-run victory.
The two teams played scoreless baseball through the first three and half innings but the Dragons got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring two runs. Bees Starting pitcher Zach Peterson walked Brandon Waring to lead the inning off and then allowed a Dennis Phipps single. After a strikeout, both Jason Bour and Kevyn Feiner picked up RBI hits to give the Dragons a 2-0 lead.
The Bees got back within one run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wilson Tucker led the inning off with a double and moved to third on a Jamar Walton single. Alwin Perez hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Tucker but that was the only run the Bees would score in the game. The Dragons got their two-run lead back in the bottom of the fifth inning via a Waring RBI double that scored Zach Cozart.
Peterson ended up going five innings allowing three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks. He took the loss and is now 0-2 on the season. Juan Abreu pitched the final three innings out of relief allowing just one hit with five strikeouts. No Bee had more than one hit. Adrian Ortiz did go 1-4 to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.
The two teams will be back in action Saturday night at Fifth Third Field. Eduardo Paulino will get the start for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 and the game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The team will return to Community Field for four games against Beloit beginning Thursday May 8th.
