New York Dragons News Release

The New York Dragons have made extra efforts in 2008 to be involved with the youth of Long Island and New York City, and the Dragons and U.S. Marine Corps have teamed up to continue that involvement with the U.S. Marine Corps high school football program.

The Arena Football League, in conjunction with League partners Russell Athletic, Schutt Sports, Spalding, Pop Warner Little Scholars and USA Football, have declared the month of May as AFL Youth Football Month, so what better time to bring your team out to a Dragons game?

The high school football season ends in November, but your team can still enjoy some together time watching our team. The New York Dragons Arena Football team wants your high school team to be a part of the 9th man that will rock the Nassau Coliseum for the final three regular season home games!

As part of our new program sponsored by the Marines, your high school football team can attend a Dragons game free of charge. We'll also provide the transportation! What better way for your team to be rewarded for all of your hard work during the season than attending an action-packed, high-scoring Dragons game together...for free! It's also a great way to build team spirit and show off your school pride.

For each Dragons home game during the 2008 season, up to ten high school football teams will be able to get lower bowl tickets and bus transportation to and from your school. So far over 25 schools have participated in the program this season from all over Long Island and New York City.

Jason Levitt, head coach at Bayside High School in Queens brought his team to the Dragons March 30th match-up against the division rival Dallas Desperados.

"None of my players or coaches had ever been to an Arena game before, so it was exciting for us," said Levitt. "We had great seats in the end zone, so we were able to interact with the Dragons players. They were talking to our team, and one player even flew into the stands right near us."

"My team already asked me when we could go to a game again. It was a great experience," Levitt added.

The Dragons are currently one of the hottest teams in the AFL, riding a four game win streak and surging to the middle of the playoff hunt. Don't miss any of the action as the Dragons close out the regular season and push toward the postseason and ArenaBowl XXII.

To get your school involved in the program please contact Paul Palazzo at (516) 501-6804 or send an email ppalazzo@newyorkdragons.com.

The Dragons' (5-4) next home game is set for Sunday, May 18th vs. the Georgia Force (3-5). It's Kids Day at the Coliseum, and fans 14 and under will receive an Aaron Garcia Jersey! For more information, including the full Dragons schedule, visit www.newyorkdragons.com.
