
Dorados Sign DB Robert Towns, Claim QB Off Waivers

Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 (af2) today were assigned DB Robert Towns, and claimed QB Orrick Watson off re-assignment from the Arkansas Twisters.
Towns, 22, played college football at Harding University from 2003-2006. A 6-foot-0, 185-pound defensive back, Towns earned a host of honors following his outstanding play during Harding's 2006 football season. He was named to the 2006 AFCA Division II Coaches' All-America Team and the 2006 Daktronics Division II All-America Football Second Team. He also took home an Associated Press Little All-America Second Team nod and was recognized by the Little Rock Touchdown Club as Harding's 2006 Player of the Year.
A Memphis, Tenn., native and graduate of Briarcrest High School, Towns had a Gulf South Conference-best eight interceptions, the third-most in Harding history during in his senior season. His interception total was also the most by a Harding player since Bruce Baldwin set the school record with 11 in 1982. Towns' 57 tackles ranked second on the team.
In his four-year college career, Towns had 18 interceptions, second only to Baldwin's 23 in Bison history. He also posted 153 tackles.
The Dorados also claimed 6-foot-6, 225-pound quarterback Orrick Watson off re-assignment from the Arkansas twisters. Watkins played college ball at North Carolina A&T.
The 10-1 Dorados host the Corpus Christi Sharks this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at ticketmaster.com, all Valley Ticketmaster outlets, and the Dodge Arena Box Office.
