Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
TORONTO, ON (April 6, 2006) - The Toronto St. Michael's Majors announced today that the hockey team's Donati Points for Cancer Fund raised in excess of $15,000 for The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. The Fund was made possible through a variety of generous contributions including: two Majors players, Justin and Tyler Donati, who finished the season with an amazing combined 181 points; Majors owner Eugene Melnyk, who personally pledged to match all funds raised; the mothers of the Majors players, who organized the special Donati jersey raffle; and, finally by Majors fans who dug into their pockets to support this cause.
It will be named the Donati Family/St. Michael's Majors Ovarian Cancer Fund. Donations can be directed to the Fund and Princess Margaret Hospital's Ovarian Cancer Program will use the funds for their highest priorities.
"The Donati family would like to take this opportunity to thank the St. Michael's Majors organization, Mr. Eugene Melnyk, the hockey moms, and especially you, the fans, for all your support during this very special event," stated Corinne Donati. "To the young boy who donated his tooth fairy money, to those of you that sent Tyler and Justin words of encouragement and praise, we thank you. We are truly humbled by your generosity. We would also like to thank our family and friends for their generous donations, continued support and prayers. You have no idea how all of you have touched our lives."
The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation can be contacted by phone at (416) 946-6560 or by email at info@pmhf.ca. Their web site is www.pmhf.ca.
