Plymouth (then known as the Detroit Jr. Red Wings) won in five games in 1993 in the Emms Division quarterfinals and in six games in 1995 in the OHL Championship Series for the franchise's only league championship. After moving to Plymouth in 1996, the Whalers defeated Guelph in six games in the first round of the 2003 playoffs. Guelph swept Plymouth in OHL Semi-Finals in four games in 1998 en route to the OHL Championship and again in 2004 in the Western Conference Semi-Finals - again en route to the OHL Championship.
