DOMINANT THORNTON KEEPS STREAK ROLLING IN L.E.

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - Trent Thornton dominated over seven innings to help the JetHawks pick up their fifth consecutive win in a 5-1 final against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Friday night at The Diamond.

Thornton (4-4) matched a career-high in innings pitched for the second time in his last three starts. He struck out a career-high nine batters without issuing a walk. The Storm managed just one run on five hits against the right-hander.

The JetHawks (40-38) jumped ahead on starter Brett Kennedy (2-6) in the third and fourth innings. Johnny Sewald and Garrett Stubbs hit back-to-back doubles to pick up the game's first run.

Lancaster added three runs in the fourth. Jason Martin struck out to lead off the inning but reached base when the third strike pitch went to the backstop. After a one-out single from Drew Ferguson, Aaron Mizell singled to score Martin. Antonio Nunez followed with a two-run single to make it a 4-0 game.

The JetHawks scored their fifth and final run in the sixth. Reliever Martires Arias walked the bases loaded and Bryan Muniz hit a sacrifice fly to score Nunez.

The Storm (36-43) got their only run on a Michael Gettys RBI-single in the bottom of the sixth.

Kevin McCanna pitched two scoreless innings of relief to finish the game.

Lancaster is now 5-0 on the current seven-game road trip. The club's pitching staff has a 1.40 ERA (7ER/45IP) on the trip.

The JetHawks will look to make it six wins in a row when they take on the Storm on Saturday night at The Diamond. Rogelio Armenteros (4-1) will make the start against Chris Huffman (6-3, 2.79). First pitch is 6 p.m.
