Dallas Desperados News Release

DALLAS, Texas - Dallas Desperados quarterback Clint Dolezel was named AFL Offensive Player of the Week today as announced by the league after helping the Desperados (9-1) defeat the Grand Rapids Rampage, 65-54, last Saturday in a game that not only helped Dallas move to the top of the Eastern Division and the National Conference, but also proved to be another historic milestone for the 13th year veteran as he became the first quarterback in professional football history to pass for 900 career passing touchdowns during the contest a week after surpassing Andy Kelly to become the AFL all-time leading passing yards leader (43,111) last week at the Columbus Destroyers (5/3).

Dolezel turned in a season-high performance against the Rampage as he collected Offensive Player of the Game honors by competing 25-of-35 passes (71.4%) for 321 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions along with helping the offense score a season-high 65 points. Desperados wide receiver Marcus Nash was on the receiving end of Dolezel's historic 900th career touchdown, hauling in the quarterback's seventh scoring toss of the night on a six-yard reception in the fourth quarter that also marked the duo's sixth touchdown connection of the game. Dolezel capped off the night with his eighth and final touchdown of the game - and 901st of his career - going to offensive lineman Jeremy Calahan, Dolezel's cousin, who caught his first career touchdown.

For the season, Dolezel has completed 136-of-214 passes (63.6%) for 1,583 yards with 36 touchdowns and eight interceptions for a passer rating of 109.9. He suffered a shoulder injury in Week One at the Georgia Force (3/1) and was placed on the Reserve/Injured List on March 6 and missed the next four weeks before returning against Cleveland (4/5).

The Dallas Desperados (9-1) host the Arizona Rattlers (4-6) on Saturday, May 17 at the American Airlines Center for a 7 p.m. (CDT) kickoff. The organization has dedicated this game to raising Breast Cancer Awareness and is encouraging all fans to wear pink for a game-wide "Pink-Out."
