Philadelphia Soul News Release
FORCE RALLIES TO EDGE SOUL
The Philadelphia Soul (9-2) lost their second game of the regular season Monday, falling to the Georgia Force, 63-62, at the Gwinnett Center. The Force were able to score 22 points in the final three minutes of the game and Soul kicker Connor Hughes missed a pair of field goals in the final minutes, the last a 43-yarder as time expired to seal Philly's fate. Last week, the Soul lost 67-55 against the Cleveland Gladiators. The team's losses were in the midst of a tough stretch in which four of five games were on the road, a span that saw the club go 3-2.
QB MATT D'ORAZIO STANDOUT PERFORMANCE
Despite the loss, D'Orazio still played a notable game. He was able to hit 28-of-30 passes for 315 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.
CHRIS "MONEY JACKSON" LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK AND HIT A MILESTONE
Despite having nine catches for 91 yards, Chris Jackson, one of the Soul's key offensive players, went without a touchdown for the first time in 53 games. Next game, he will go for another milestone this season, as he is just 2 TD catches away from passing Eddie Brown (303) for second on the all-time list.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
The Soul (9-2) are pumped to be returning back to Philadelphia and playing the Columbus Destroyers (2-8) at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, May 17th, at 7 p.m. (et). The game can be seen locally on Comcast SportsNet, heard locally live on 950 ESPN and on the web at www.950espn.com. Philadelphia is undefeated in the City of Brotherly Love this season, having won all five of their home games.
LET THE BUZZ CONTINUE
Although the Soul lost the two weeks, expectations are still high for the rest of the year. The Soul boasts one of the most impressive records in the league (9-2) and have accumulated a league-best 702 total points for the season. In Week 1 they defeated the Predators 77-56, in Week 2 they beat the Crush 60-49, in Week 3 they destroyed the Dragons 63-42, in Week 4 they defeated the Avengers 71-34, in Week 5 they beat the Storm 59-5, in Week 6 they put out the Blaze 64-56, in Week 7 they edged the SaberCats 58-57 and in Week 8 they defeated the Destroyers 76-55. The Soul then suffered two consecutive losses of the season, losing 67-55 against the Gladiators and most recently 63-62 versus the Force.
