Dogs Sign Two Mastiffs
August 10, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Richmond RiverDogs News Release
Richmond, VA - The Richmond RiverDogs, a third-year member of the United Hockey League, proudly publicized two player signings today that are sure to make the Dogs' bite leave a mark.
General Manager and Head Coach Robbie S. Nichols announced the additions of wingers Mike Wolf and Brendan Tedstone. Wolf, 6'5", and Tedstone, 6'4", combine for almost 700 pounds on the scale. Tedstone, alone, weighs 400. Both also suited up for Nichols last season with the Flint Generals (UHL).
"These two men are the biggest hockey players I know," said Nichols. "Mike Wolf has great potential - yes, he is 6'5", 300 pounds and can play. Brendan Tedstone is very, very large. Both men will add to the RiverDogs' tough style of play."
Wolf, a 26-year-old native of Traverse, Michigan, spent the last two seasons in Flint while seeing a total of 28 games of action. The right-winger is most known as an aggressive presence on the ice. In 57 career games as a professional, also suiting up for Memphis and Oklahoma of the Central Hockey League, Wolf has 10 points on four goals and six assists, along with 185 penalty minutes.
Tedstone, meanwhile, saw two games of action for the Generals last season, his only pro contests, but not much ice-time. Prior, the 35-year-old forward from Hopkinton, Massachusetts, spent three games with St. Hyacinthe of the LNAH, totaling 19 penalty minutes.
Wolf and Tedstone join a trio of last year's RiverDogs, right-wingers David Brosseau and Bill Downey and defenseman Brian Goudie, as signed members for Richmond's 2005-06 campaign. Also inked are defenseman Ryan Crowther and rookie forward Warren Cooper.
The Dogs open their exhibition season on October 14th with back-to-back games against new rival Roanoke. The battles, taking place in the 700-seat Skate Nation on the 15th and 16th, are being tabbed as the "Battle on Broad Street!" The regular season commences on Friday, October 21st, hosting the Adirondack Frostbite at the Richmond Coliseum. Tickets for all RiverDogs home games are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and the Richmond Coliseum Box Office. Tickets can be charged by phone through Ticketmaster at 804-262-8100 or can be purchased at the arena at 601 E.
