Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, Nebraska - Ryan Long went 2-for-3 with an RBI double, but the 'Dogs allowed a pair of homers in a 4-1 loss to the Kane County Cougars at Haymarket Park on Tuesday night.

Long's double got Lincoln (21-19) on the board in the 6th, but rookie RHP Elijah Johnson allowed a solo homer to Josh Rolette in the 2nd and a three-run homer to Dylan Busby in the 4th, and the 'Dogs dropped their fifth in the last six games.

Long now has 11 multi-hit games - tied with Justin Byrd for the most on the club this year - and his 23 RBIs are now second on the team behind Josh Altmann.

Altmann had two singles and a run scored, but the 'Dogs were held to six hits as Kane County (21-20) evened the series after Lincoln's 3-2 win on Monday.

Johnson allowed four runs over 5.2 innings, and Josh Norwood pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief. Jesse Stallings pitched a scoreless 9th inning, allowing two hits with two strikeouts.

Jose Fuentes allowed one run over seven innings - his 7th quality start of the year - and Ryan Richardson tossed a 1-2-3 8th inning before Logan Nissen worked around a single and a walk for hits sixth save in the 9th inning.

The series continues on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
