CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â What does a dog do on its day off?
Why, it comes to a baseball game!
The Cedar Rapids Kernels close out the Dog Days of May this afternoon with Bark in the Park at New Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Pet owners may bring their pups to the stadium to see a game from the Lawn section this afternoon, when the Kernels host the South Bend Silverhawks at 2 p.m. in the second game of a four-game series. The Kernels won the opener, 12-3, Saturday.
Cost is $4 for the pet owner and $4 for the pup. The latter money will be donated to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
There will be a doggie parade before Sunday's game, weather permitting.
Before purchasing a ticket for a pet, dog owners must complete an owner/pet information sheet and sign the required documents. They are available online at www.kernels.com. Proof of vaccinations is required.
Today's game time is 2 p.m. Gates open at 1 p.m.
The ticket office opens at Noon today. Tickets can be purchased at the Veterans Memorial Stadium box office, by phone at 896-7560 or online at www.kernels.com.
