Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release

(Vero Beach, FL) - The Lakeland Tigers handed the Vero Beach Dodgers a 5-2 loss Friday night at Holman Stadium. It is the 7th straight loss for the Dodgers, their longest losing streak of the year. The homestand ends Saturday night at 7:00 PM. Dodger starter Blake Johnson retired the first six batters he faced, but gave up two runs in the third and three runs in the fifth. The bullpen tandem of Miguel Ramirez and Wesley Wright kept the Tigers off the board the rest of the way, but the Dodgers were unable to come from behind. Blake DeWitt extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a first-inning double. He is one shy of the FSL's longest streak of the year set by teammate David Nicholson earlier in the week. Cole Bruce stroked his team-high 4th home run with a shot to center field in the 4th. It was the only run off Tigers starter Lance Davis. Davis earned the win with 6 2/3 innings during which he struck out 11 Dodgers. Freddy Dolsi pitched the 9th for his first save.
