
Dirty Birds to Host Third Annual African American Heritage Night

CHARLESTON, WV - African American Heritage Night returns to Appalachian Power Park, home of your Charleston Dirty Birds, for the third season in a row on Tuesday, August 9. The Charleston Dirty Birds and AARP-West Virginia will honor the past and look to the future on Tuesday, building on tributes to the Negro League from the past two years, the team will take the field wearing replica Homestead Grays jerseys. The Jerseys will be auctioned off on the shop the Dirty Birds team store, visit www.dirtybirdsbaseball.com.
The Charleston Dirty Birds are a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball - The first Partner League of Major League Baseball, a player gateway to the major leagues, and a leader in baseball innovation. - Charleston NAACP President Rev. Ron English, who marched with Dr. King, setting the occasion
- Giveaway of 500 commemorative baseball cards of West Virginian and Negro League star Harry Kincannon, provided by Black By God
- Kick-off of a community art project and new mural for the ballpark by the City of Charleston
- Covid vaccinations, boosters, blood pressure checks and health care information, provided by the Partnership for African American Churches
- Make-and-take crafts, organized by the Charleston YWCA
- Hair wrapping demonstrations, organized by the Charleston Black Ministerial Alliance
