LEOMINSTER, Mass - The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs scored early and never let the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide back into the game. The Dirt Dawgs topped the Raging Tide by a score of 16-7.
The star of the game for the Dirt Dawgs was Tommy Buonopane (URI) who went 2-2 including his first home run of the season. He also scored three runs, had four RBIs, two walks, and stole a base. Mattingly Romanin (Chicago State) hit a grand slam for his seventh home run of the season. Richard Fecteau (Salem State) scored four runs in the game. Kevin Marciano (Western New England) also added two RBIs. Dan Ditusa (Seton Hall) pitched five innings only allowing three runs while striking out three.
The Raging Tide were led by Graham McIntire (Marist) and Kyle Mendenall (Oklahoma). McIntire had four RBIs and Mendenhall had three RBIs including a home run. Aaron Wilson (Hartford) also had three hits and scored three runs.
The Dirt Dawgs will travel to face the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide again on Monday, July 14th at 7:00. Connor Johnson (Maine) will make his second start of the season.
