
Suns Win Over Mavericks

PITTSFIELD, MA - The Pittsfield Suns defeated the Seascoast Mavericks Saturday night at Wahconah Park before a record-breaking crowd of 4,356 fans.
The home team didn't waste any time and scored two runs in the first inning for an early 2-0 lead. Gary Tesch was hit by a pitch to start the inning before Dan Donahue walked to put runners on first and second. A wild pitch would advance both runners before Jeff McGarry would hit a sac fly to right to score the runner from third. Another sacrifice fly off the bat of Derek Gardella would plate the Suns final run of the frame, giving the Suns a 2-0 advantage.
It would be 4-0 Pittsfield before the Mavericks could score a run, which came in the fifth inning off the bat of Dakota Higdon, who doubled to score a runner from first.
The Suns would add two runs to their lead in the sixth inning, but Seacoast fought back and plated three runs in the seventh and one in the ninth, but would fall two runs short, losing to Pittsfield 6-5.
McGarry had a solid night at the plate for Pittsfield, going 3-4, driving in four Suns' runs.
Suns started Jacob Williams (2-1) recorded the win, allowing seven hits four runs, two walks and striking out three in six and two-third innings of work. Andrew Schultz (0-1), who would come in to relieve starter Michael Driscoll, was pegged with the loss
