
Dirt Dawgs Sending Some of Their Finest to All Star Game

Leominster, MA- The Inaugural Futures Collegiate Baseball League All Star Game will put the Original 4 franchises (Martha's Vineyard, Torrington, Seacoast, and Nashua) against the new expansion teams (Pittsfield, Wachusett, North Shore, Old Orchard Beach, and Brockton) on Thursday July 26th. The first pitch will be held at 7:15 p.m. in Nashua, NH at Holman Stadium.
Prior to the game they will be holding the MLB Scout Day where the All Stars and selected players will showcase their skills to Major League scouts. This will be open to the public and starts at 3:30 p.m. The Hitting Skills Competition will start at 6:35 p.m.
Wachusett Dirt Dawgs have two players that have been selected for the Futures All Star Game, Shane Keddy and Bryan Menduke. Shane Keddy plays shortstop at Assumption and Bryan Menduke is a relief pitcher at Bryant University. Keddy leads the team with his batting average of .261 along with a team high 5 doubles, 13 RBI's, and 7 stolen bases. Menduke is tied for sixth place in the league with 3 saves and it shows with his low ERA of 1.76.
Each roster is currently comprised of 24 players: 2 catchers, 12 position players, and 10 pitchers. To select the 25th and final spot on each team we will be conducting a fan vote on our Facebook page.
Jake Archey, who attends Binghamton University, has been nominated as the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs fan vote All Star for the New 5 team. Jake Archey is the starting catcher and leads the teams in walks and has a .965 fielding percentage. Visit this link and vote for Jake Archey http://www.facebook.com/thefuturesleague.
Head of baseball operations for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, Scott Lettre, stated, "I am very excited for Shane and Bryan to have been selected for the All Star game. I hope that Jake Archey will be selected by the fans for the 25th spot on the roster. All of our players have shown a lot of heart and talent on the field, but Shane and Bryan have really stood out and I'm proud to watch them next Thursday in Nashua."
There are a few local players from Lowell, MA that are in the FCBL will also be playing in the All Star Game along with Shane Keddy from Worcester, MA. Anyelo Roman from the Seacoast Mavericks, Rays Roman from the Nashua Silver Knights and Jimmy Ricoy from the Pittsfield Suns.
