
Dirt Dawgs Earn Fifth Straight Victory

Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
LEOMINSTER, Mass (August 3, 2014). The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs won their fifth straight game, this one in come-from-behind fashion. They improved to 25-26 on the season. A key eighth inning home run by Brendan Skidmore (Binghamton) helped the Dirt Dawgs top the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide by a score of 7-5.
Skidmore also had a home run in the fifth inning to tie the game at three. He had four RBIs in the game. Austin Botts (Lock Haven) also had a two run home run in the game. Sam Goodwin-Boyd (Wesleyan) added two hits. Tom Mahoney (Western New England) pitched six innings, allowing just three runs, while striking out seven. Matt Russell (UMass Dartmouth) threw a scoreless ninth and earned the save.
Mekae Hyde (Bates) led the Raging Tide, collecting three hits including a solo home run in the first inning. Hyde also had three RBIs in the game. Aaron Wilson (Hartford) and Rahiem Cooper (Virginia Tech) each had one RBI in the game.
The Dirt Dawgs will host the North Shore Navigators on Tuesday, August 5th at 6:35 for fan appreciation night.
