Dillas fall 12-4

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas trailed early and couldn't rebound offensively as the San Angelo Colts took game two 12-4 to even the United League Championship Series 1-1 on Saturday night in front of X fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Dillas starter Richard Jessup (0-2) got the loss as he went only three innings, allowing six runs and seven hits. Colts starter Brian Henschel (2-0) got the win, going seven innings and allowing four runs.

Richard Paz and the Colts started off quickly as the San Angelo second baseman powered a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall for a solo homerun. The Colts kept scoring in the second as Hank Lanto hit an RBI single, followed by a Bryan Frichter 2-RBI single for a four-run lead. Two more runs scored in the third as Ronnie Gaines hit a 2-RBI double to give San Angelo a 6-0 advantage.

Amarillo scored their first runs of the game in the fourth. Carlos Figueroa and Terrance McClain started off the inning with singles, followed by an RBI double by Trent Lockwood to score Figueroa. McClain would come across on an Eric Brown groundout for a 6-2 score.

The Colts continued scoring with a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh for a ten-run lead. The Dillas scored again in the seventh as they strung together four straight hits leading to RBIs for Stantrel Smith and Figueroa for a 12-4 score.

The Dillas had a few more chances for runs, but couldn't plate any to end the game with the score 12-4 in favor of the Colts.

With the loss, the Dillas and Colts are tied 1-1 in the series. Sunday, Amarillo will travel to San Angelo to face off against the Colts in the third game of the United League Championship Series at 7:05pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50pm on AudioSportsOnline.net. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
