Amarillo Dillas News Release
SAN ANGELO, TX - The pitchers of the Amarillo Dillas never got anything going against the San Angelo Colts batters as the Colts swept the Dillas in a three-game series after an 8-4 victory on Sunday night at Foster Field in front of 2,059 fans.
Dillas starter Jorge Lugo (5-5) went only an out past one inning, gave up five runs and eight hits while walking two. Colts starter Darryl Roque (3-7) went five innings, allowed four runs and five hits while striking out three. San Angelo reliever Ryan Mulle retired the first 11 batters he faced and did not allow a run in four innings for his first save of the season.
Amarillo got on the board first as Carlos Figueroa walked in the first, went to second on a stolen base and scored on a Danny Bravo RBI double. Gary Schneidmiller singled to left field to score Bravo which gave the Dillas a 2-0 lead.
The Colts scored once in the first on a Ronnie Gaines solo homerun, while they would take the lead in the second. New Colt Billie Hicks tripled to score a run while Gaines hit his second homer of the game to put San Angelo up by two. Madison Edwards doubled home Jason Diaz to give the Colts a 5-2 lead.
The Dillas would score twice in the fourth inning as Jack Chapman singled and Josh Ashton doubled to put two runners in scoring position. Rick Owens Jr. and Jonathan Reynoso both grounded out but scored a run each time to bring Amarillo within a run at 5-4.
San Angelo would score a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to take a commanding 8-4 lead. Mulle went the rest of the way and finished off the game with the Colts victorious by four.
