Diamond Jaxx Offense Explodes in Win over Biscuits

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (JUNE 23, 2010) - The Diamond Jaxx (1-1, 40-31) get there first win of the second half in an 11-6 rout of the Montgomery Biscuits (1-1, 39-31) on Wednesday night, at Riverwalk Stadium. Every Diamond Jaxx starter had at least one hit. The Jaxx pounded out 13 hits, but also stranded 12 runners on base. The Jaxx drew a season high 10 walks from Montgomery pitching.. West Tenn evens the series with Montgomery at 1-1 with four games left in the six-game series in Montgomery, AL.

Johan Limonta, Carlos Peguero, Jose Yepez and Brandon Haveman each had two-hit nights for the Diamond Jaxx. Limonta, Yepez, and Carlos Triunfel had two RBI's. Leury Bonilla finished the night 1-for-3 and drove in a season high three runs. Scott Savastano drew four of the Diamond Jaxx 10 walks in the game, and was one away from the Southern League record. Savastano was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Nevin Ashley led the way for Montgomery with a 2-for-5 game with a homer and three RBI's.

Mauricio Robles (6-4) stops a two-game losing skid on the mound with the win for West Tenn. Robles worked five innings and gave up four runs on three hits. Mauricio walked four and struck out three. David Newmann (2-5) suffered the loss for Montgomery.

Jose Yepez hit a two out double to straight away centerfield in the top of the third inning scoring Johan Limonta and Carlos Peguero. The double by Yepez was his ninth of the season and it put the Jaxx on top 2-0.

Again Wednesday night, like on Tuesday, Montgomery answered the runs scored by West Tenn in the bottom of the inning. Nevin Ashley belted a three-run homer to put the Biscuits up 3-2. The homer was the second of the season for Ashley. Then, Cody Cipriano tripled in Chris Nowak to push the lead to 4-2 after the third.

The Jaxx pulled back within a run on an RBI triple by Johan Limonta that scored Dustin Ackley from first in the top of the fourth. Limonta was thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple, but he leads the league with 25 doubles.

West Tenn continued the scoring spree in the top of the fifth with three more runs coming across. Johan Limonta and Leury Bonilla each had sacrifice flies in the inning and a run scored on a fielders choice hit into by Carlos Triunfel. The Jaxx led Montgomery 6-4 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

The Jaxx batted around in the top of the eighth inning and scored five more runs. Leury Bonilla capped off the big eighth inning with a two out, two RBI double. The Jaxx took an 11-4 going to the bottom of the eighth.

Montgomery scored two runs in the ninth inning against new Jaxx reliever Steve Palazzolo. Matt Fields hit his ninth long ball of the season in the bottom of the ninth. The two runs scored made it 11-6 Jaxx on top.

Game three of the series is at 7:05 Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, AL. RHP Jarrett Grube (0-0, 0.00) will make his first Diamond Jaxx start on Thursday night. Grube played college baseball at the University of Memphis. He will be opposed by RHP Jeremy Hall (4-3, 2.97) for Montgomery.

The Diamond Jaxx will return to Pringles Park on Monday, June 28 and host the Tennessee Smokies at Pringles Park for a five game series. This will be the first visit for the Smokies to Jackson, TN.
