
Devils Re-Sign Four Players

Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today re-signed four players: left wing Jay Pandolfo, defenseman Bryce Salvador, right wing David Clarkson, and right wing Barry Tallackson. The announcement was made by Devils' President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
Pandolfo, 33, will enter his 12th National Hockey League season in 2008-09, all with New Jersey. He has career totals of 90 goals and 114 assists for 204 points and 138 penalty minutes in 706 career NHL contests. The 6-1, 190-lb. winger's games-played total ranks tenth in franchise history, while his 307 consecutive games-played streak, January 22, 2003-November 28, 2007, is fourth-longest in team history. This past season, he recorded 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points and 22 penalty minutes in 54 regular-season appearances, while also seeing action in all five post-season games. Pandolfo was a member of New Jersey's 2000 and 2003 Stanley Cup Championship teams, adding ten goals and 22 assists for 32 points and 12 penalty minutes in 124 career playoff matches. In 2006-07, he was a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the league's top defensive forward. He is a five-time recipient of the team's Unsung Hero Award, and three-time winner of the club's Players' Player Award. Prior to his NHL career, Pandolfo spent parts of three seasons with Albany (AHL), after being selected by the Devils in the second round, 32nd overall, in the 1993 Entry Draft. He played four seasons at Boston University (HE), where he was named to the NCAA East First All-American Team, as well as the league's First All-Star Team, and All-Tournament Team as a senior. Also that season, Pandolfo was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award and was named Hockey East's Player of the Year, having led the league with 38 goals. The native of Winchester, MA was born December 27, 1974.
Salvador, 32, will enter his eighth NHL season, and 12th year as a pro in 2008-09. The 6-2, 220-lb. defenseman was acquired from St. Louis February 26, 2008, recording one goal and ten assists for 11 points and 54 penalty minutes in 64 games overall this past season. Salvador has career totals of 16 goals and 47 assists for 63 points and 424 penalty minutes in 455 career regular-season games with St. Louis and New Jersey. The native of Brandon, Man. added three goals and one assist in 41 career playoff contests. Salvador, who was born February 11, 1976, spent three seasons with the AHL's Worcester IceCats prior to making his NHL debut in 2000-01. He was Tampa Bay's sixth choice and the 138th selection in the 1994 Entry Draft. Salvador played five seasons of junior hockey at Lethbridge (WHL).
Clarkson, 24, completed his first full NHL season/third pro season by appearing in 81 regular-season games and all five of the club's post-season contests in 2007-08. The 6-1, 200-lb. right wing posted nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points and a team-leading 183 penalty minutes this past season. Clarkson made his pro debut with Albany (AHL) in 2005-06, and also saw action in 67 games with Lowell (AHL) in 2006-07, before making his NHL debut March 15, 2007. Not drafted, he signed with New Jersey as a free agent on August 12, 2005. The native of Toronto, Ont. played his junior hockey at both Belleville and Kitchener (OHL).
Tallackson, 25, will enter his fourth pro season in 2008-09, after recording 22 goals and 23 assists for a career-high 45 points and 54 penalty minutes in 63 games with Lowell (AHL) last season. He also saw action in three games with New Jersey in 2007-08, after making his NHL debut November 12, 2005. The 6-5, 215-lb. forward joined the organization upon the completion of his four-season collegiate career at the University of Minnesota (WCHA) where he was a member of its 2002 and 2003 NCAA Championship teams. Tallackson's Golden Gopher teammates included current Devils' defenseman Paul Martin. The native of Grafton, ND was New Jersey's second choice, and 53rd overall selection in the 2002 Entry Draft. He played two seasons for the United States Development Program.
