Devils Defeat Wolf Pack 4-1

Hartford, CT - Jordan Parise made 34 saves and Nicklas Bergfors notched a goal and an assist as the Lowell Devils (6-5-1-1) defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack (4-9-1-0) 4-1 at the Hartford Civic Center Sunday evening.

The Devils entered the game tied for fourth place in the Atlantic Division, with a three-point cushion over the Wolf Pack. For the third straight game, the opposition scored first, as Brandon Dubinsky scored just over four minutes into the contest. Nicklas Bergfors tied the game shortly thereafter, with a power play tally at 7:02, and the clubs went to the dressing rooms tied at 1-1.

Despite being outshot 17-7 in the second period, Lowell pushed in front and chased Hartford's starting goaltender from the game. Tomas Harant scored for the first time this season, with a blast from the blueine at 2:58 to give the Devils the lead. When David Clarkson put home his second of the season at 15:56 on Lowell's 11th shot of the game, it marked the end of G Stephen Valiquette's evening. Jordan Parise, meanwhile, had stopped 25 shots through 40 minutes of play for the Devils.

The Devils held onto the lead in the third, staying out of the penalty box and tying Hartford 9-9 in shots over the last 20 minutes. Hartford took a chance late, pulling G Al Montoya for an extra attacker with just over two minutes left in the game, and the Devils jumped on it. Jason Ryznar fired home his second of the season from his own blueline to make it 4-1. Parise, meanwhile, cruised to his second win of the season, stopping 34 shots on the night. He has made 78 saves on 81 shots in his last two outings. ! With a 2-0-1-0 record on the weekend, Lowell picked up five out of a possible six points.

After a pair of road games next Friday and Saturday, the Devils return to home ice on Sunday, November 19th for a 4:05 p.m. contest against the Worcester Sharks.
