Canadiens recall Kostitsyn

MONTREAL, QUE - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that right-winger Andrei Kostitsyn has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Prior to his recall, Kostitsyn, 21, registered at least one point in three consecutive contests with Hamilton (one goal, four assists), and has collected a total of eight points (one goal, seven assists) with the Bulldogs in 11 games this season. The 6'0'', 208-pound native of Novopolotsk, Belarus has also taken 28 shots on goal, posted a plus/minus rating of +5 and registered 13 penalty minutes.

Kostitsyn will join Montreal in Ottawa tonight (Sunday), and is scheduled to participate in Monday's morning skate at Scotiabank Place. The Senators are scheduled to host the Canadiens tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.

The Hamilton Bulldogs' next home game is on Tuesday, November 14th at 7:30 p.m. versus the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights.
